A REVELATION!!!

NOTE: Video is shown left handed. Written intructions are right handed.
For all of you having a horrible time learning or doing the knooking purl stitch. Here's another way you can go about knooking both with the knitted and purl stitch. This method WILL NOT work doing increases and decreases or other stitches I have shared on this blog because you are entering the stitch differently.  READY!!!!
Just in case you didnt see note above: Video is left handed written instructions are right handed.

First: Knit stitch- You will go through your stitch Right to Left just as you have been CATCH instead of yarning over keep your working yarn UNDER your hook and pull through the stitch. Knit stitch complete.
Second: Purl stitch -Ok, working yarn to the Front, go through the stitch Right to Left just like the knit stitch, NOW put you working yarn to the back, Yarn Over and pull through the stitch.

SO EXCITED, HOPE THIS HELP'S ALL OF YOU OUT!!!!!

  2. Lefty here who can't purl for the life of her! LOL

Are the "Right to Left" instructions for right-handed knookers? As a left-handed knooker do I go "Left to Right" instead?

  3. Thank you for the revelations! Would it be possible to see them on video for us who are visual? I'd really appreciate it!

  6. I've posted a few photos here:
    http://growingthingsandmakingthings.blogspot.com/2011/02/easier-knooking.html

I think you didn't quite go far enough with the new knit stitch, Ronda, so I've changed it a bit. I hope you don't mind.

    Good luck with college!

  7. Hi Rachel I see you say your getting twisted stitches with this method and you should not, I will try to get picks up or a video soon to better explain.

  8. As you've changed the knit stitch to avoid twisty stitches, it did seem a bit odd that I was still getting them. Your instructions are so clear that I was sure I'd followed them correctly, but I guess not!

Anyway, my version is going just fine for now, and I'm so grateful for your revelation - it's made purl soooo much easier!

  9. I've just looked at your instructions again and figured out which bit I got wrong: In purl, "Now put your working yarn to the back" - I took the yarn over the hook instead of under, i.e. wrapped it round the hook in the opposite direction.

It seems your revelation has led to TWO easier methods of knooking!

  10. This post is ancient, I know, and I have no idea if you'll even get this message. I would like to know where you got your knooking needle? Is this one that you made yourself? I've looked all over online for the exact needle that you have, but nothing looks that good. The Denise Interchangeable set seems nice, but I like the look of yours better.

    Thanks,
    ---Kara---
