Sock Knooking Hook

So many want to knook a pair of socks, but it has been hard finding a small enough hook to do that. If your handy then here's a way to make your very own sock knooking hook.

Supplies:

Pony Bead Lacing  2-3 Feet
Hand File
2.75 mm Boye Aluminum Hook (or hook of choice)

File around the end of the hook creating a post so it can accept pony bead tubing.

Slip tubing on to hook. And happily knook a pair of socks. For more sercurity you can glue tubing onto hook to make sure it doesn't slip away.

  8. Hi
I run into the same problem, although I have to go look for the pony bead tubing. Meanwhile I use a Denise tunisian hook (3.75 is the smallest one available) and the smallest cord available for the knitting kit. This works for me. I have created a crochet/knit knooking project (for size 5 so you can use a regluar knook) for a basket which I am going to felt tomorrow. I will post it this week on my blog, crochetalong.blogspot.com, happy knooking (I like it!)

    1. You should be able to find a hand file at hardware store. I found mine in my husbands tool box :)

  10. Ditto that question ^

Can't imagine any "hand file" strong enough to file down metal. What are we missing?

Plus, just wondering if you have any info somewhere about " knooking in the round" as a substitute for DPNs? Would love handmade socks but really can't stand knitting on multiple DPNs! =P

    Thanks! =D

    1. A hand file will file down aluminum crochet hook with no problem. I have working in the round starting from cuff but not the toe. Now that I have some more time I will try to get instructions up from toe up.
